I visited Muir Woods today for the first time in a year and a half, and my coworkers didn't recognize me at first, which was embarrassing for all concerned.

To escape some of today's heat, my mom and I dragged the dog and the little red wagon, laden with pitchers, snacks, books, and lawn chairs, to San Anselmo Creek and sat in the creek for two or three hours, doing crossword puzzles and reading.

My dad got free tickets to the Giants' game, so on Monday I went to the game with him and Brian. Yesterday I rode my bike up to Five Corners again, but this time went via Deer Park, which is steeper so I couldn't ride all the way to the top. Damn.

This weekend, for father's day, we took a family trip up the coast to Fort Ross--we were headed for Bodega Bay, but all the campgrounds were full so we had to go a little further.

We hung out at a beach for a long time taking pictures, clambering across rocks, and napping like mad.

Planning to watch the sunset, we walked up to the ridge above our campground, but it was too windy and we bailed after a few photos.

Sunday, we walked from our campground to Fort Ross along a super windy bluff and saw this craven dipping in the wind.

Fort Ross was pretty boring, itself.

Today I went for a substantial hike with Robin, Bryan, and Roxy, which took us along the dark side of Bon Tempe, up to Rocky Ridge, past Hidden Lake/Mungpond, and down along Alpine. I've exercised every day for the past 4 days! Go me.

Desperate for peanut sauce but not wanting to go to the grocery store, my dad and I made our own curry powder:

The other day I cleaned out my car's first aid kit and found a lot of expired pills etc. They have an expiration date for a reason, as you can especially see looking at the ibuprofin:

Later, I found a bottle of pills that expired in 1991, which I really don't understand since we didn't get the car until 1996!

Today was Robin's graduation. My cousin Sara and I made up a drinking game for the next graduation anyone goes to: drink whenever anyone says "Class of 2006". Alternatively, words like "future" and "high school"/"college" would work well.

P.S. I am now in California

Yesterday I gave a presentation on my salamander report, which I worked on until 4:30am, then woke up at 7:30 to work on again before it was due at 10. Ridiculous. Anyway, my teacher spread out a bunch of trail goodies during a break from presentations and asked what it had to do with this class. It turns out the first day we all said our favorite trail snacks, so all our favorites were there! I hadn't remembered I said lemon drops, but they were the first thing I was drawn to from the pile. One girl asked, "Who said apples?"--she had.

Check out this cool wallpaper of herons fighting.
