Here's a drawing of Elisse Myanne, one of the main characters in my book.

In 45 minutes of searching, I only found one salamander.

Reading Material:
Comic Strip--I liked this one
Fables, by Bill Willingham--it's like CANDY

Last night I went to hear this guy talk about walking across the country on the 7800 mile Sea to Sea trail--it was so long he had to hike during the winter because the only way to avoid doing that would have been to walk 50+ miles a day. It made Coty (who I dragged along) and I want to go hiking. But not that far!

Here is a map of New Hades, the land of ghosts Damon goes to visit in my book! You'd be surprised how long it took to make this. More like horrified how much time I'm willing to invest in things like this. Click for a bigger version you might actually be able to read.

I found two dead beetles on the sidewalk today; forbid that this is an omen of ill-portent for my upcoming talk about the field work I did with beetles in New Zealand! That said, anyone who's in Bellingham on May 8th should come to my talk: 3-4 pm in SMATE 140.

In water quality lab today, my teacher was wandering around the room chatting to people. When he got to me and my lab partner, he looked at my partner and said, "You want to be a scientist, huh?" Then he looked at me and said, "And you look like you want to be an artist."

Cody (the ex-roommate) came into the Writing Center today while I was on, so I had to work with her, then I met with her for lunch even though I had planned to walk around on Sehome Hill to try to listen to birds etc. When I got home I decided to take a hike out by the bay, but then when I got to the trailhead I didn't feel like hiking anymore, so I walked for about 10 minutes and then bailed. But I did correctly identify one bird!--the Chestnut-backed Chickadee.

Enjoy this crappily colored version of the drawing I'm working on right now.

In Water Quality lab today, I got to play with a fire extinguisher. Well, so did my whole class. We practiced putting out a gas fire, but the fire was right next to a walkway, so one girl got totally immersed in clouds of cold carbon dioxide! She was not happy at all.

Sad: the karma is not flowing for my greek yogurt--the store finally had it in stock for the first time in a month and a half, so I got some, but now it is MIA...

Exciting: I only have 45 credits left if I take only the minimum everything--so if everything works out, I could graduate on time!

Scary: that means I have to start thinking about the real world, and probably take the GRE too, which sounds like the test from hell...

Gee, two posts in the same day!

April's calendar drawing--oil pastel.

Our fridge. It's like an I-spy! What do you spy?

Yesterday Aimee and I hit up the farmer's market for about 5 minutes, but it was so pathetic and tiny we had to leave. We still had time on the meter, so we got teriyaki and fudge, then played with the bunnies at the pet store, and Aimee decided she wants to get a second rabbit. But not one of those rabbits, because they were too big--so we looked online and decided a Netherland Dwarf would fit the bill. We watched The Village, which I hadn't seen before and enjoyed, then we went to Fairhaven and got huge servings of gelato because we had a buy one get one free. We felt kind of pathetic when a bunch of B'ham high-schoolers came in dolled up for prom and a couple split a small, while Aimee and I gorged ourselves on a large each. Then we drove around looking at apartments in the dark, trying to figure out how big the people's rooms were at all these different apartment buildings, but we felt pretty sketchy, so we went back to her place and played with her rabbit Nomi. It was an eventful day.
