Last night, my sister and I went to the Monsters of Accordion/Jason Webley concert at the strangest venue I've ever been--an auto wreckers. They had bonfires going in 55-gallon drums and the stage was a little sheet of plywood elevated on cinderblocks.

The first guy we heard sounded like what you would expect from an accordion player--cheerful polka-esque folky tunes--until you realized that the words he was singing were "I'm gonna kill your children-YOUR children! Kill them, kill them, kill them, kill them, gonna kill your children!"

The Jason Webley part of the concert went about as expected, with lots of audience singing and crazy dancing. Anyone who's not a Jason Webley fan yet should look at his website (www.jasonwebley.com) or go to the concert in Oakland tonight.

Today in 1920, women were granted the right to vote.

Yesterday I went for a gnarly hike with Elliot out in Point Reyes to Alamere Falls, a lovely waterfall that splashes directly onto the beach. Unfortunately, now I'm exhausted.

I now have a new bamboo floor!

This evening, we heard a bunch of fire trucks fly by to the end of the street--there was a huge fire burning the eucalyptus trees! We dashed to the roof with binos and cameras and watched planes drop red stuff on the flames.

I'm rehauling my room! It's about time--the furniture I'm just now getting rid of was my great-gramma's, and while that's nice and everything, I shouldn't have to be cursed by her old-woman taste for flower carvings.

We at the Durnell residence are having some internet difficulty. Well, actually, wireless difficulties. Thank you, neighbors, for having wireless internet without password protection!

Mentionable moments of the Shasta/Lassen trip:

I can't put up pictures just yet because they're trapped on der other computer, not my laptop, so unless I become unlazy enough to transfer photos via CD, it could be a while.
