Nooksack River Adventure
January 15, 2006
Ryan and I drove up the Mt. Baker highway to take a hike on the Horseshoe Bend trail, which parallels the Nooksack River.
We weren't tired when we finished, so we decided to see Nooksack Falls, which was marked with somewhat terrifying signs like this one.
The falls were even pretty from above. My pictures of the falls themselves did not turn out great, just as the sign warned.
Next we went exploring on the Baker-Snoqualmie Forest's backroads. The water's running pretty strong in the Nooksack River and in its tributaries, like this stream that ran directly across the road.
What is so special about the genetics of this tree, and how did they figure out they were special? We saw these plaques on random trees all over the forest everywhere we went.
